This month's green tip aims to help you be a bit more water-wise. Water is a precious resource we have limited amounts of so it's important to make sure you're keeping your use in check!
Get a reusable bottle made of glass, steel or non BPA plastics. It's time to ditch the one-use plastic water bottle! You can safely reuse one-use plastic bottles, but remember to rinse and wash them regularly, and don't expose them to any hot water as this could cause the plastic to deteriorate - keep them out of the sun for this reason too. You shouldn't keep a one-use bottle for too long though - some suggest between 2 and 4 weeks at most!
Turn off the tap. It's pretty simple, and most of us know better, but it's easy to get complacent - don't leave the tap running while you're doing something else - you're just wasting water! Turn off the tap when you're not actually using the water coming out of it - for example, while you're brushing your teeth, before you spit & rinse.
Take shorter showers. As lush as a long shower can be, most of the time 5 to 10 minutes is more than enough. If it does take you a particularly long time to wash your hair for example, try to limit longer showers to once a week.
